Skipping Stones

166 / March 2024 / Lindsay Schnarr

Here's another one of my admittedly, not-at-all-a-workout mix... unless it's considered a workout of the heart. Mine has very much been enduring a hardcore bootcamp of sorts over the past year or so. This moody mix is coming straight from the emotional waves I've been riding and not so filtered by what I think others may enjoy (something I've been working on in general). It's a cry for connection. A searching for hope. An attempt at acceptance. Acceptance of the collective loss that we experience in life, and the very painful rollercoasters of grief and growth we go through at various times. I so appreciate this outlet and hope you all find some release in these melodies. I've been gifting myself with solo dance parties in my dining room recently. Many of these songs have fueled this release of energy into the ether.

About the title... it sort of just came to me like a dream, and I'm processing why it feels so right, right now. I think it's about, well for one, the beautiful images I have of my husband demonstrating to our kids how to skip stones in the reservoir by our house. It's something he is frustratingly good at (among many other things) and I am not, and is deeply tied to an innocent joy that he carries. Beyond that, I think there's something about these moments of memory, touch down, or the like... that keep me feeling connected to something bigger. These moments aren't continuous or smooth, but they carry me from one launch, lift, peak and decent down to to the next moment of gratitude and refueling. Fuel for thought anyway. Sending many moments of light and love to all of you as you ride the waves life is bringing your way.
