Fossilized Terrestrial Vegetation

163 / December 2023 / Kristin Kelly

Very late add. (Apologies, Burnmixers.) It features a few instrumentals that I have been keeping in my pocket in case I direct an indie movie where the main character is hit with a series of life-changing ephiphanies: one about the state of her soul in the freezer section of a Stop 'N Shop, one about her relationship with her mother while she's getting her annual pap from a quirky, cross-eyed obgyn. And finally, that moment when she realizes her childhood friend is The One when he shows her his collection of "fossilized terrestrial vegetation", or petrified wood, sinching it when he takes her hand and together they touch his most recent acquisition, while he explains that "in some instances, the original structure of the stem tissue may be partially retained. Unlike other plant fossils, which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the original organic material." End scene.
