    More Info from Last.FM

Birdcloud met in Murfreesboro and immediately didn’t like each other. At a party in 2009 they had some whiskeys and became friends and started dicking around on guitar, writing their first song, a song about going down on your best friend, now lost to the sands of time. Despite a lukewarm reception at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, they have been sitting on each other’s faces ever since, showing each other their bruises and generally doing whatever they want when it works out that way. 2. Emma Swift / King of America

    More Info from Last.FM

A lonesome-voiced singer and award-winning radio broadcaster in her hometown of Sydney, it was a move away from Australia to Nashville, Tennessee that inspired Emma to write and record her solo debut. One of Australia’s finest sad-song-singers, Emma’s voice has always required the kind of backing that would do it justice, and thanks to Nashville-based Australian expat Anne McCue and a cast of A-team Nashville session pickers, Swift’s songs have been wrought from (pedal) steel and amber, turquoise and honey. 3. St. Vincent / Huey Newton

This goes out to Saunders and Lindsay because they're badasses like St Vincent.

A pseudonym of Annie Clark (b. 28 Sept 1982), a USA multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. She was a member of The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens' touring band. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she began playing the guitar at the age of 12 and as a teenager worked as the tour manager for her uncle's band Tuck & Patti. She grew up in Dallas and attended Lake Highlands High School, graduating in 2001. Following this, she went on to attend Berklee College of Music, dropping out 3 years later. 4. The Coathangers / Merry Go Round

    More Info from Last.FM

The Coathangers are a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They are: The Crook Kid Coathanger: Vocals, guitar, tamborine; Minnie Coathanger: Vocals, bass, tamborine; Rusty Coathanger: Vocals, drums; Bebe Coathanger: Vocals, keys. The band formed in 2006 as a joke, played a house show and were asked to open for The Hiss on the strength of their performance. The name was chosen for its vulgarity - an irreverent take on abortions - though all band members are pro-choice. Read more on Last.fm more...

  6. Bad Guys / Crime

Give the story a chance, even if the music isn't your thing. It's charming.

    More Info from Last.FM

A midlander, a southerner, a Canadian and a Hungarian. Three necks, two kicks and no mic stand. Long hair, grey hair, bald- heads and beards. A shitload of rock. The works. Sounds like a plan. As well as playing with the likes of Circle and Oxes, these guys have earned a reputation for crashing all sorts of parties. They make the heavy stuff and they play it loud, the way it should be. 7. Eagles of Death Metal / Complexity

  8. Tweens / Rattle n Rollin

    More Info from Last.FM

Self-described as a "trash pop band," Cincinnati's TWEENS borrow from their hometown's rock history as well as from bad-girl punk from the '70s through the '90s. The trio formed in April 2012 when vocalist/guitarist Bridget Battle began playing a Dixie-Cups song with drummer Jerri Queen and bassist Peyton Copes in the practice space of the house they shared. It was very different musical territory than the trio's other projects: Battle was a member of the electronic noise band Public Housing Read more on Last.fm more...

The way the second harmony comes in on "Went down on a rodeo clown" is great. Man.

There are two artists called Jeffrey Lewis. One (b. 1975) is an American singer-songwriter, the other is a Welsh composer. Jeffrey Lewis is an American singer/songwriter and comic-book artist, part of the Anti-folk movement. Several of his musical influences have been acknowledged in his songs such as The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song, concerning the song by Leonard Cohen, and The History of The Fall. Like Cohen, Lewis' lyrics are complex and literate, often combining a depressing world-view with a hopeful message and sharp wit. Read more on Last.fm more...

  12. The Cleaners from Venus / The Jangling Man

These guys have been making music for 40 years. How did I miss them? This entire album is great. Great political song.
