We may not all have all lived in Amherst at the same time, but each of us mixers have called this sleepy little town our "home" at some point in our lives. This album aims to honor the local talent that the "Happy Valley" has to offer... and create a sampler of the artists who have made Western Massachusetts their home. In creating this concoction, I began to notice that the artists of this area have a recognizable twang - perhaps as an obvious correlation to our farm fresh countryside - and while we have quite collection of edumacated academics around here, us locals certainly have a shared appreciation for folky folks. So enjoy a bit of what we got round here and keep an ear out for a few familiar sounds - they just may be coming from your neighbor next door.

Rusty Belle / Words that Fit
More Info from Last.FM
Rusty Belle is a 'junk-folk' trio, sometimes playing live as a duo, consisting of siblings Matt and Kate Lorenz and Zak Trojano. Rich with original, raw tunes and tight harmonies, clanging percussion and a style that can either 'hand you your a** or make you miss your Mom' (Tom Friedmann), a Rusty Belle show is not to be missed. The Fawns / First Step Down
More Info from Last.FM
The music of the Fawns is lovingly crafted from elegant simplicity; the songs of Lesa Bezo sometimes settle into a musical armchair we'll call "twanglepop", with an essence of a gentle 1950s country-rock amble married to sweetly poignant and honest ruminations on romance. But more often than not , these days, it's power poptastic hooks that the Fawns deliver. Aromas of shimmering reverbed guitars, spunky new wave flavors and boy/girl pop-bounce all blend into the mix.
