to come home to yourself

This mix is my sound bath for you.

Backstory:

I started going to crystal bowl sound baths in Portland (where else) at the height of parenting my first toddler. Shalom Mayberg (see track 3) hosts them at least once a month in various yoga studios and spaces in town. I had no idea what to expect but loved the enveloping sound experience. So deeply calming. One of those feelings where you lay down and wonder how long this will last and by the time it's ending, time has been swallowed up into a strange soft chasm. I've been happy to realize that listening to a recorded track can have a very similar quality.

I'm working on a new online class this summer called Calligraphy as Meditation and it's set me off on a mission of music research. How to tap into the new age realm without puking or giggling. :) This mix may inspire you to do both, but hopefully you will put it on and feel what I feel, which can be really visceral, soothing, calming sounds. Lord knows we need it.
